GPA Requirements for Current Graduate Students<<-Previous PageStudents must satisfy any prerequisite deficiencies immediately upon entry to the program. Departmental Policies regarding CS courses and Graduate School requirements are used to establish three (3) different GPA computations that are pertinant to current graduate students. 1. Graduate/Undergraduate GPA: This included MATH and CS courses that are prerequisite for our graduate program. It does not include courses other than MATH and CS or any other courses not listed as prerequisites for the MSCS program. 2.Graduate Computer Science GPA: This includes all undergraduate and graduate credits from the Department of Computer Science counting toward a MSCS graduate degree. It does not include non-Computer Science courses, even if they have been approved for graduate degree credit. 3. Graduate Degree GPA: This includes all undergraduate and graduate courses that count toward an MSCS graduate degree, including Computer Science courses and those taken from other departments tha have been approved to count toward an MSCS graduate degree. Current graduate students must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA within each of these GPA calculations. If a student's GPA falls below a 3.0 GPA, he/she will be placed on academic probation for the following semester. A graduate student placed on academic probation is generally prohibited from holding a teaching or research assistantship, and generally cannot register for thesis/research credits. Graduate students placed on academic probation are expected to raise his/her GPA at this time, or be subject to dismissal from the graduate program. A maximum of two (2) semesters on probation is allowed. After this time, the student's GPA should be raised to/above a 3.0 or be dismissed from the graduate program.
